Meringue-ghosts for a scary party

Meringue-ghosts for a scary birthday partyOne of the easiest snacks for a scary birthday party is meringue-ghosts.
It’s quick to mix together and decorate, the only thing that takes time is the baking -but you can do something else while they bake 🙂

For one portion you’ll need:
– 2 pasteurized eggwhites
– 1 teaspoon of vinegar
– 3,5 oz of icing sugar
– a bit of black glaze
You’ll also need a piping bag with a round nozzle.

Whip the eggwhites together so they get stiff, add the vinegar and use a strainer when adding the icing sugar. Stir it together, it’s done when it’s really stiff.
Put the meringue into the piping bag and pipe out some ghost-shapes on baking paper on a griddle.
Put the griddle with a meringue-ghosts in the oven and bake them for an hour at 230 degrees fahrenheit with the settings normal (top and down heat). Bake only one griddle at the time.
Turn off the oven and leave the meringue in the oven while it cools off.

Stir a bit of glaze together and add black icing color. The glaze should be quite thick. You can fold a small cornet of baking paper and put the glaze in there, it makes it easier to draw with.

Draw eyes and mouths on the meringue-ghosts, let them dry and now they are ready to be used for decorative snacks. If you store them dry and airthight, they can be made a week in advance 🙂
